The Art of Digital Chaos

This tool uses a combination of special Unicode characters and CSS tricks to create its unique, unsettling, and fascinating effects.

Zalgo Text

The "Cursed" style uses a technique called Zalgo text. It works by adding a chaotic stack of "combining characters"—special Unicode symbols that attach to the character before them. By stacking many of these vertically, we create the signature "glitching up and down" effect.

Creative Unicode Use

Many other styles, like "Scratched Out" or "Interference," use different combining characters to add marks over, under, or through your letters. These characters are part of the universal text standard, which is why they can be copied and pasted.

Where to Use These Styles

Make your online presence memorably strange. Here are some of the best places to use your new weird text.

Usernames & Bios

Create a creepy, glitchy, or edgy username for social media, or make your bio on platforms like Instagram and TikTok impossible to ignore.

Social Media Posts

Add a bizarre twist to your posts and comments. Zalgo text is a classic way to create "cursed" content on platforms like Twitter and Facebook.

Gaming & Chat

Give your gamer tag a menacing or corrupted feel in online games, Discord servers, and other chat platforms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Get quick answers to common questions about our weird text generator.

Why are some styles copy-pasteable and others are not?

This generator has two types of styles: CSS styles and Unicode styles. The Unicode styles (like Zalgo or Strikethrough) can be copied and pasted anywhere because you're copying the actual text characters. The CSS styles (using special fonts like 'Metal Mania' or effects like skewing) are visual previews only and cannot be copied, as you can't copy a "font." The "Copy" button will always copy the underlying Unicode-generated text.

Can Zalgo text break websites?

Yes, sometimes! Using an excessive amount of Zalgo characters can stretch the height of a line of text so much that it overlaps with other content and disrupts the layout of a webpage. Our generator uses a moderate amount to be interesting but not destructive. Use it responsibly!
